She has arrived in the land of the Nez! I just walked over to the City Market to fetch some lunch (salmon and rice with a side salad, yum!)and walked through much rain and wind. They slow the elevators down on days like today. Kittay is safely inside sleeping, but she is not going to be happy when it is time to "go" later.

Off to the Zoo!

I am being taken to the local zoological park called Oxbow Nature Center. It is a small collection of native woodland creatures and farm animals.

Katie and I are leaving for Rochester, MN in the AM to visit my niece, Kelly, and her family, husband Norm and children, Travis and Lindsey. It is an eight-hour drive so I am hoping to get started early. I will if I can get Katie started early. Wish me luck!

Is the Summer over?

The WX has finally broken its string of non-stop ninety-degree, hot and humid days with a hint of Fall. It never got much above eighty yesterday, and today it is not even supposed to get that warm! I also notice how short the days are getting now. It is dark by 8:15PM where it used to be the same at 9:15 PM not so long ago.

I am speechless

It is Summer, hot, humid. This is very clever. Watch and chuckle and maybe cry.

felis catus update

She had a very slow day yesterday. She did not move from the same spot for six hours. I took her some food and water and, to my relief, she ate! Then resumed her sleep through the night until she woke me up around 4:30 AM wanting to go out (to pee I guess), so I let her. I let her back in around 8:30 AM and she went straight for the food bowl and had a healthy nosh. I guess she had the kitty 24-hour bug.

felis catus stupidus

I don't know what she did out there last night, but she was hurting this morning. No visible signs of trauma, but she was moving slowly with some effort. She also bypassed the food dish and found a place to curl up. Poor kitty.

Nanny and her charges

Last weekend was a busy one for me compared to my usual weekend routine. I set the alarm for 4:00 AM in order to meet my 6:35 AM flight without additional stress. Good thing I did, because being a Summer Saturday morning near the first of August, there were many amateur travelers out there anxious to get out of Dodge for a few weeks. Lots of church groups too.

The first leg of the trip to Boston was through EWR. I had time for a Florentine omlette at the Garden State Diner and a phone call to Andy before continuing on the BOS. I noticed that the East Coast airports were waaaay less busy than the zoo in Indy.
I picked up the rental car in BOS and proceeded to Duxbury to find cousin Lydia and her employer family with whom she had been living for the month of July. Once again I felt like the Grim Reaper having to tear away the month-long bonds that developed between Lydia and the kidlets. But it was time to leave Duxbury and the 100 year-old house they were restoring. We got back into the lame rental car and headed off toward Westport Connecticut and further adventures with children.

(to be continued)

Bloody blog!

I just got home and found that my server had, for most intents and purposes, crashed! It did this last Saturday when I was in Massachusetts and was trying to do some remote maintenance.
I will probably post a few of the highlights of my little trip after I have had a time to catch up and rest.
Good to be home again.
