What happened to global warming?

It went down to 9°F (-13°C) last night! It is no wonder that Kittay was very reluctant to go outside this morning. Although, on the Kittay front, he is deathly afraid of the roofers who are still in the neighborhood.

It is warmer in Rochester MN than it is here! That's not right!

Roofer madness!

The hail storm we has last year prompted an install of a new roof. In order to do that, they have to remove the old roof. All the noise of tearing off and hammering is driving Kittay bonkers! It is driving me bonkers, too. Needless to say, Kittay is going to spend all his time outside hiding under the deck. I am going to camp out at the coffee shop until dark.

Zoom, zoom

The Nez Sez has undergone a speed upgrade and should download a bit faster now than before. In order to control comment spam, I will continue to require a TypeKey login to post a comment (boo!).

It could be worse

As of this morning. I think it has stopped for the day . . . maybe more is coming by the end of the week. Argh!

Almost 3 inches

Brandy update - again

I have two more pictures of Brandy to show you all . . .

Wetness over Texas

And it is supposed to be headed this way by tomorrow and Monday. I think the WX dept at Channel 13 is just snow mad. Yeah, we'll get some, but how much? That's what I want to know. Maybe none I hope.

Katie bought it!

After a lot of research, a little looking around, she took the plunge and hooked up with a new Toyota Yaris. It has all the toys and cup holders one could possibly want.

She can even reach the pedals!

Long weekend

The MLK holiday is this coming Monday. I should take the time to upgrade my blog to ver 3.3 as I was told by their support staff. Damn. Movable Type upgrades are always such a trial so I absolutely dread doing them. My server probably doesn't have sufficient horsepower to handle the new version anyways.

Maybe if I keep at it I will talk myself out of doing it.

Hark at the wind!

The temp has finally dropped into Winter range. My thermometer reads 23°F (-4°C) outside right now. We were supposed to get an inch of snow yesterday, but we didn't - so I am thanking my lucky stars.

Kittay is not fond of the cold, although he does not seem to mind the rain, of all things. He often wants to go outside in the wet and comes back in with drops of water in his fur. Cold is a different matter - perhaps because he is a domestic short hair!

Now that the iPhone has been introduced I am sure Katie will start up a campaign to get one.

The ten word meme

The rules are as follows, which is taken directly from Meeta`s website:
"Here`s how this works. Meeta assigned me the letter "G". I write ten words that start with that letter and a brief description of why I chose that particular word. If you want to play along just say so in the comments. I`ll assign you a letter in my comments and you can post to your heart`s content on your blog."

1. Grateful: I have to be to stay sane and keep on an even keel. There were times past when that was not in the cards for me, but not so anymore.

2. Golf: I don't play the game, but I used to - very poorly I might add. But it was an excuse to spend Friday afternoons with a friend.

3. Garbage: I *hate* to take it out!

4. Garage: I have three vehicles and only one space in the garage. Why?

5. Gold: I love the color of gold, but hate it on those cars which sport the "gold package" - almost as pretentious as those "designer" SUV's. Hype and marketing.

6. Ginkgo: I just blogged about this recently so there's no need to be redundant.

7. Graham Greene: One of my favorite authors as it goes. A mature style of fiction I find highly entertaining.

8: Gut: (mine) I see it in the mirror, but still haven't the motivation to eat less or work out. Maybe because I was so skinny while growing up. I don't know.

9: Gravity: Related to No. 8. It is harder to overcome when the forces of said act upon the greater mass. Oy.

10: Global: (warming) Yeah, I know its a bad thing. Very bad. I am not sure I am doing my part the help prevent it, but I think I am in some ways. But I am enjoying the warmer Winters I am having here. I hate snow and too-cold temperatures, but we haven't had any this year. And I haven't had to bother to move!

It's Friday

And I finally got a haircut this morning. I no longer look overly shaggy and unkempt. I don't like haircuts as a rule, but I have found a new stylish stylist who is getting the hang of my coif. It is my third visit and she seems to be most relaxed now and the haircut shows it.

Sleep deprived

Here I am blogging away at ass o'clock in the morning. The cat is baffled (and wants attention, of course). This is the time I should upgrade to the latest version of Movable Type, but I deem that too daunting a prospect. It looks calm and serene outside. The thermometer reads 41° (5° C) and there is no frost on the car (I park to catch the first rays of the sun in hopes of melting same instead of scraping).

Maybe I'll go make some hot chocolate.

The beat goes on

I never made it to lunch yesterday. I just got too busy all of a sudden and work took priority. I haven't checked out the Market yet, but I can see evidence of heavy construction (or destruction) going on.

Did I tell you? I ordered a Ginkgo tree from www.freetreesandplants.com like two years ago. Well, voila! It finally arrived over Christmas. I don't know if it will grow in a pot, but I am going to try. I just love the look of the Ginkgo's foliage. I just hope it's a boy!

Back in the saddle . . . again!

But, I am grateful to have a saddle to be back in, actually. The new work year is starting out quietly, not too many crises to greet me this morning. The WX is excellent for the middle of Winter. Kittay is out and about not getting into fights I hope.

I started out by going to my usual coffee place this morning and found out that they stopped trusting us to pay for our brew. The money bucket is missing because some asshat stole it during the Christmas rush.

Time for a little lunch. I hear they are refurbishing the City Market so I am surely in for a treat.

The perfect snack!

I found Satsumas in England a couple of years ago. They taste like extra sweet oranges, but they are small and peel easily unlike a standard orange. I didn't think they were available in this country, until the day before yesterday when I found them in my local market.
