A new houseguest

What a typical English doggy. She loves to go in the garden and chase the pussies and the squirrels.

Does anyone recognize this woman?

I was getting some serious eye shag action on the Piccadilly line between Earl's Court and Leicester Square yesterday.

Went for latte

I went down to the high street for a latte on Cafe Nero. It is just like the Monon in the morning - too many babies! Well, they were good babies. Last year I grabbed one who was running out into the traffic. They are very quick!

Mince pie!

My cousin has a Christmas tradition where he makes a couple dozen mince pies for all to enjoy! Now don't you wish you were a caroller on Vicarage Road? Total yum!

He worked all day making those pies! It was a project done with love!

A foggy day

Sainsbury's was insane! Everybody left their Christmas shopping to the last minute. When we got to the turkey case, there were only tiny little ones, or bloody great big monsters left. We got lucky and found a perfect middle sized one that was overlooked. And, no, it was not exactly the last turkey in the shop.
The WX is what you call typically English - 2 degrees celsius and fog. Love it!

Last day of school

Today I got to use my new Oyster card on the No 65 bus from Richmond to Ealing Broadway to rendezvous with cousin Lydia and her beau, John. They both finished up teaching for the holiday. We trucked all of her presents back to Sheen - what a haul!
Tomorrow we are leaving London for the wilds of Berkshire for a day with friends Ron and Jacqui.

Oyster card

Just got into bed, but now I feel pretty wide awake. I became a Londoner today when I got myself an official Transport for London Oyster Card. Went to Richmond upon Thames and bought a gift for my cousin Ashley this afternoon. It got completely dark by 4:30. We had some curry chicken for dinner, then watched 4 episodes of Fawlty Towers. That was my day, what about you?

Made it to London!

Watched an episode of Fanny Hill on BBC 2. Going to try to get some sleep - always hard on the first night.

Taking a short day today

I believe I have almost everything I need to fly out of here tomorrow night. My laundry is done. I have a few odds and ends bought for the trip. I have located all my electronics and have replaced all the batteries with fresh ones. Picked up the dry cleaning. Bought an extra bag of cat food (feeding bighead is a bit of a drain), but I think I am feeding other forms of wildlife judging from the random footprints in the snow.

War wound

Kittay was pissed a bit when he saw all the snow, yet he went out, but spent all his time under the cover of the back deck. Looks like he got into a little scrap under there - his nose has a scratch. There's a whole cat subculture thing going on under that deck. It gets intense. Whenever it rains or snows, all the neighborhood Broad Ripple cats take shelter under there. It's like the Superdome after Katrina, only on a smaller scale . . . with cats.

Massive laundry doing

I leave for London this coming Tuesday night so I am gearing up for the trip. The first big job is to catch up on neglected laundry which has been sitting in the basket for a month. I always like to have a complete, full palette of clothes to choose from when I pack.

Central locking problems

I hate to get that car fixed. Every time it's expensive. They always have to replace some esoteric part which costs over two-grand.
I brought it to the dreaded dealer. I am now waiting for the dreaded telephone call explaining how they have to special order this, and it costs $2,000 and comes from Germany and will take a week to get here, etc., etc.

Katie got a job!

After months and months of scraping along, Katie is now working for Dog Ear Publishing here in Indiana. I am not sure what she is doing for them, but she is probably doing what her mother does for Pearson, editing.
Congratulations Katie!

Award winning cousin

My cousin, Lydia won a Duke of Edinburgh Gold award.

Way to go, Squid!

Nothing like a little snow

As long as it stays little I am happy. It fell last night and amounted to about 3 inches. It was pretty early this morning because it was a wetish snow and it lined the smallest twigs on the trees. Very pretty until the wind picked up and it fell off the branches and blew around into drifts. Needless to say, my kitty was not a happy camper when he went (reluctantly) out for his morning bathroom duty, poor sod.

Mystery solved

For a long while now I have been wondering why my blog has all these hits on it from, of all places, Turkey. I finally did a little probing this morning and found out that there is a dancer who calls herself "Nez" which is short for Nezihe Kalkan. If you click on Google images for Nezihe Kalkan, you'll get the idea.
