Facebook hates me
I can get to the login page, but when I try to log in it times out. What a pain!
Must be the fault of the (almost) full moon! I noticed that there were many jerks on the road, both driving and walking this morning.
Even Kittay wanted to stay inside all day.
UPDATE:
Facebook has forgiven me at 12:25 PM. I am going to get lunch.

Working on the router
If this blog is slow or absent for a while it is because I am working on the router configuration to provide the quickest, most reliable service. Every router is different in the way that it handles things particular to my set up. I have to experiment. Hang in there.

They're baaack!
Every year my basil and geraniums get attacked by the dreaded Japanese Beetle (Popillia japonica). It has been dry this year so insects in general have been held off, but we've had rain recently. Damn! Why does it not surprise me they spread from New Jersey!

Midsummer garden
Even though it has been dry in Indiana, when you grow in containers you can control the water. The upshot of the dryness is the lack of destructive insects which usually attack my "crops" every year.
Tomatoes are abundant

To pee, or not to pee . . .
My cat bugged the living hell out of me at the crack of dawn this morning wanting me to let him out. The thing he did not realize was that it was raining buckets for the first time in a month! He didn't realize it until I opened the door to let him out. I wish I had my camera to record the ambivalence. He did go out, but came back in five minutes later, visibly and verbally upset by the workings of mother nature. Ha!

Midst of a drought
There is a water use ban on here in Central Indiana. It dry as a bone out there. Thank goodness my "garden" is all in pots so I can continue to water.
The upside of all this dryness is that it really is nice that it is not humid. It may be hot as hell, but it is really comfortable because humidity has been hovering around 30% most days. And as a bonus, the insects are nowhere to be found! It's like SoCal here in the Heartland (without the traffic).

Spaghetti tonight!
I am going to take this opportunity to harvest a pepper before the local squirrel gets to it. That big one is about ripe and is weighing down the rest of the plant, so it should be eaten!

We're for it
There is a monster cold front due to pass over today. It was totally windy all night last night and most of the afternoon yesterday. I expect some thunder and rain today so I might just relocate my crops to the floor of my deck.

The garden gods are smiling
I see my first tomato of the year forming on the big plant. It is a Marglobe.
The peppers are doing nicely as well. I will harvest that big one next week before the squirrel gets it.

Back on the horse.
My voice and data phone service mysteriously vanished a couple of days ago. The voice was fixed within the hour of my reporting it, but it took an extra day, plus a visit from two at&t technicians to get my ADSL line restored.
So if you were wondering where the Nez went, now you know.
