Yet another storm expected

It is due on Tuesday starting as rain then turning into snow as the day progresses. That means that commuting home Tuesday afternoon will be nothing short of hell. You'd think with all the piddly storms we've had this year that drivers would be rational and know how to adjust to the worsening conditions, but no. One accident on your route and it is all over.

A sign of Spring

I just went out the front door to get the paper. Sure it is 24°F (-4°C) out and there is two inches of day-old snow covering almost everything, but what I noticed first was the most vigorous birdsong!

Another full moon! I tried to watch the lunar eclipse last night, but clouds rolled in obscuring my view. Those clouds ended up dumping two inches of snow all over the place. I thought I smelled something.

Well, duh! I found out that the lunar eclipse is tonight! And it is clear and cold! I will take a picture if I can, although I don't have a tripod.

Here they call them "Cuties"

It is a mandarin orange here. But the brand I found them under is called Cutie. In England there is a similar fruit called a satsuma. I think the difference is mostly in color, or colour - the satsuma is a less saturated orange hue. Everything else about them seems about the same.

Birthday followup

Apparently my sister got to gorge on cake for her birthday. That's what happens when your are a Giants fan!
No candles I see. (I guess my nephew didn't want to set off his smoke alarm!)

Freezing my butt off

And I will continue to freeze most of this week. It is down to 12°F (-11 °C) now. Kittay absolutely refuses to leave his spot on the bed in the sunshine. I think I may join him.

I just got back from Target. The one we went to is a few miles away, but opening this Summer is a new Target a meer mile to the east in the Glendale Mall. This mall is a real looser, but they keep trying to revive it and remake it. I don't know why it doesn't blossom because on paper it looks like a total winner. For me it is because it is so close I could walk there (if I was energetic enough). And walking there would be a win-win because I need the exercise, and I wouldn't buy as much stuff because I would have to schlep it home on foot.

Just shoot me

I can't believe what I just did. I sat down in front of the television and in spite of TiVo, it was turned to the local PBS affiliate station in Bloomington. I watched the entire episode of the Lawrence Welk Show!

What does this mean? Am I sick? I must be getting old. I am old.

I think it was more a case of fascination with the hairstyles of the time. I don't know when this episode originally aired, but it was in vivid color. Ties on the men were about an inch wide. I remember those from the early to mid sixties, so I am guessing here. The Lennon sisters sang "Georgy Girl" so it had to be 1966 or later which sounds about right. I never saw so much greased down, short hair with whitewalls. The women's hair was lacquered stiff. I feel old. I need assisted living.

They're so smart those weather forecasters with their doppler radar and predictive modeling technology. Well they BLEW it this time! Jumping up and down last night, increasing the snow amount to 8 inches, frightening my cat, blah! We got less than one stinking inch on the ground this morning. It is supposed to warm up over the weekend so that will be gone too.
I thought we'd be OK when I couldn't smell the snow yesterday.
