Early returns
I just happened to notice that this great growing weather we are getting has gotten some early results on one of the pepper plants . . .
The cilantro has taken a bit of a beating, but I think with a little TLC it will prosper.

Introducing Oscar
This is Oscar. He lives a few doors to the North. He seems to have an unusually strong interest in Kittay.Posted by nezbitthecat at 12:47 PM | Comments (0)
False "Monday"
It is so hard to get up after a long weekend. I think things were complicated by the 25mg of diphenhydramine (Benadryl) I took to combat a stuffed up nose from being too close to the cat. It left me with quite a hangover the next day. I am going to see if I can't find a lesser dose (10mg) somewhere because it did a good job of allowing me to breathe.

Vandalism!
I awoke around 4:40 AM to the sounds of drunken vandals walking down my street kicking off the side mirrors of the cars parked along the street. This, of course, included my car. I called 911 and made a report and the police said they would send someone. Then the police called me back two minutes later and said one of my neighbors had detained someone and they police were on the way and would I help identify the suspect. So I got dressed and went over toward my neighbor's. Sure enough, the bastard who I saw kicking mirrors was there along with two of my neighbors.
Well, we were waiting forever and the perpetrators were sobering up. Where were the police? They took over 30 minutes to get there. As the police were driving up, the kids bolted and got away. So much for justice.

Garden happenings
It looks like one of the tomato plants is going to bare fruit after all. I spied a blossom on the plant this morning.
I transplanted the basil this morning. It seem to be doing ok - well, until those Japanese beetles come along. I hate those things and their voracious appetites.
I also re-transplanted the imposter Brandywine tomato into its own pot. It looks a little yellow and puny so we'll see what happens.

Ouch!
Have to replace all of Poot's rusted out brake lines and hoses to the tune of $1,300.00 He'll be done the first of the week. Well, after all, they are twenty-five years old.

Pootie does it again.
My Poot tried to kill me the other day. I had to slam on the brakes quite hard to avoid hitting a woman cutting across a double yellow and the pedal went almost to the floor. It is working on the secondary braking system now. I dropped it off and I am awaiting the mechanic's call.

Poseur! Imposter!
One of my plants is not as it was labeled! The Brandywine tomato is really (I believe) some kind of pepper.
UPDATE:
I stopped by the garden center and corrected the situation.

Crops are in!
Well, some of them. I am waiting until the temperature gets a little more summerlike before I plant the rest.
An heirloom tomato called Brandywine
Two types of peppers
Catnip for Kittay and friends
Some geraniums (in honour of my mum)

Planting this weekend
The WX is supposed to be a bit wet. The garden center has stocked many plants so it is time to start putting things in pots. If I have the energy, I will start to get the garden together this Saturday.

Oh! Surprise, surprise!
Stupid airline is charging to standby now. Before, you could standby on an earlier flight on the same day to the same destination without penalty. Now they charge an extra $25. Bastards!

New Jersey Food
I think I have gained ten pounds from eating potato salad alone! There is so much variety here as compared to Indiana. It is a good thing I don't live here anymore, I would not fit though doors.
