12 hours later
The storm that blew through last night left a lasting impression on Broad Ripple. There were 75 mph winds that hit light a freight train; one minute calm, the next minute fury. There was constant lightening and thunder. It hit at about 10:00 pm and lasted about an hour - that was round one. Round two began at about 11:30 and hit with about the same fury, except this time the electricity quit. An old analog alarm clock read 11:43 for the next twelve hours until the electricity came back at 12:02 today.
Now I am running around resetting things - VCR's, answering machine, light timer. Pictures in the extended entry.
We got four inches of rain in the span of about ninety minutes.
This house had an unwelcome caller in the night.

Kittay maintains a relaxed attitude in the storm's aftermath.

I hate office pitch-ins
They are always on a Friday - I have other plans. They are always at 12:00 noon - I don't eat until 1:00 PM. There is never enough room to properly sit down - I don't balance a paper plate on my lap very well. They are too frequent - once a year would be enough, not once a month.
But the food is usually very good! (and it's free)

Flat as a pancake
I got home last night and saw that Poot's left rear tire was flat - again. It has a persistent slow leak so I have to blow it up about once a month. I put the air in last evening, but it was flat again this morning. Damn!
So it is off at the gas station where they promised to have the rim properly straightened so the slow leaking would stop.

Sadness on the garden front
With the cool temps continuing day after day as well as plenty (too much?) of rain, a couple of my plants are on the cusp. The dill is turning yellow/brown and not growing much. The basil hasn't grown at all and has developed brown spots in its leaves. I may have to replace those two plants, but I am going to wait until it decides to warm up.
The dying dill:
The blighted basil:

It's that time again
Every month. Are people around you barking today? Are you noticing an excess amount of odd behavior? Are your peeps making arcane blog posts?
It is a FULL MOON today!

It is not the Full Moon
But there are crazies out there today. Maybe it is the weather. Too much pollen in the air because it is Spring. I should have stayed home and pulled the covers over my head.

Rain, rain, rain
It has been at it since I went to bed last night. Not hard, but quite steady. April showers. More like April floods when you are a "flatlander" like me.

Working in the fields - plantin' time!
In addition to the usual tomatoes, basil, peppers and catnip, I had added two herbs. Since I am fond of fish, I thought some dill was in order. And since I am fond of lamb, I planted some rosemary to compliment it.
The dill (don't know why it is called "weed")
And some rosemary

Pot clean up
I have dumped the old dirt out of my pots and filled them with fresh potting soil. Found out I need another of the big bags of new potting soil and maybe even a bit more to finish the job. Looks like another trip to wal-mart is in the cards for tonight.
